Current Opportunities

Volunteer

There are many different reasons that people choose to join in, and we recognise that everyone brings different interests, experiences and motivations with them. It can be a great way to learn new skills, meet like-minded people and help improve your local community. We run regular sessions and events throughout the year and currently offer the following roles:

Garden Growing Group

Alternate Monday/Wednesday mornings 10am-12:30pm

The group is made up of volunteers who give their time to aid the day-to-day running of the Community Woods and Garden and is aimed at people who have a keen interest in gardening who can work without much supervision. The group focuses on fruit, veg, and flower growing for the community cafe and open days/public events.

This group is led by our Garden Staff, and we work as a team on a variety of tasks for a couple of hours and then have a well-earned tea break at the end.

Create and Connect Group

Timetabled Friday mornings 10am-12pm

A weekly creative group centred around nature connection and enhancing the garden space, with the following aims:

-To support well-being through social creativity which promotes collaboration and connection to the garden and nature.

-To identify meaningful creative opportunities to support the wider outcomes of the garden.

Led by our Sessional Worker, each programme of sessions will be focused on exploring how the garden can be a space for creativity, from outdoor art and practical signage to sketching outside, creative planting or even outdoor furniture upcycling.

The group will be low numbers, around 6-12 participants, and no prior experience is required. If you have any access requirements, please do get in touch for how best we can support you. We aim to make the group as accessible as possible.

For both groups we encourage people to do a trial session to see if it works for the individual and for CWG. If appropriate we then ask people to fill out a registration form and ask how they wish to be contacted about ongoing sessions.

Please let us know in the form below what you are interested in getting involved with - thanks so much !
